  • Best Cinnamon Ornament Recipe.doc or Cinnamon Ornaments below. The ornaments are easy to make and their aroma lasts long after the holidays are over. This recipe makes 12 to 15 ornaments. Allow 2-4 days of drying time turning ornaments over daily. Try to make the ornaments a little thicker and a little larger since they shrink just a little bit during drying. Keep extra cinnamon on hand to dust the plastic wrap as I roll out the dough.
3/4 cup applesauce
1 bottle cinnamon (4.12 ounces) (Dollar Store has cinnamon)
Supplies needed:
cookie cutters
colorful ribbon
  1. Mix applesauce and cinnamon with hands in small bowl until a smooth ball of dough is formed.
  2. Using about 1/4 of the dough at a time, roll dough to 1/4-inch to 1/3-inch thickness between two sheets of plastic wrap. Peel off top sheet of plastic wrap; cut dough into desired shapes with cookie cutters.
  3. Place each ornament on a paper plate labeled with name.
  4. Make a hole in top of ornament with a straw.
  5. Dry ornaments at room temperature. Let stand 1 to 2 days or until thoroughly dry, turning occasionally.
  6. Insert ribbon through holes and tie to hang. May be decorated with opaque paint markers found in arts and crafts stores, if desired.
